Reflections

I should be grateful to be sitting here by the pc blogging;
I’m lucky enough to be in this part of the world, safe and prosperous;
I know I shouldn’t complain of being bored and stressed;
When in the other parts of the world, there are millions of people who lost their homes and families in a second.

I should be grateful to be working on a Tuesday evening;
I’m lucky enough to be earning a secure income;
I know I shouldn’t complain of work troubles and bosses;
When in the other parts of the world, there are millions of people jobless.

I should be grateful to be having piping hot meals everyday;
I’m lucky enough to even have my stomach filled;
I know I shouldn’t complain of having the same food in the same place everyday;
When in the other parts of the world, there are millions of people dying from hunger.

I should be grateful to be preparing for my coming exams;
I’m lucky enough to even have the chance to further my studies;
I know I shouldn’t complain of the workload and meeting deadlines;
When in the other parts of the world, there are millions of people deprived of studying.

I just realise how lucky many of us are, but yet unappreciative of things in life.
