Hippo-Mei is reading Totto-chan: The little girl at the window written by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi.
"A long-standing bestseller by Japan's most popular TV personality. Totto-chan is a quiet indictment of sterile education. An engaging series of childhood recollections about an ideal school in Tokyo during World War II that combined learning with fun, freedom, and love."
