Self-torture

I have been wondering abt this: is furthering ur studies an act of self-improvement or self-torture? :)Many will surely disagree wif me coz i feel that im torturing myself by wrkin n studying at d sm time, some ppl might be used to it aredi but im reali tired of it....But of course, upon upgrading urself, u wld hv more 'market value',haha...
the few reasons why u need to upgrade urself:
SOCIAL factor- peer pressure, a degree is too common nowadays..guess out of 10 people,9 r undergraduates
TECHNOLOGY factor- nd for high-tech everywhere,so one nds to hv gd computer skills to survive (my opinion)
ECONOMIC factor: economic r bad nw...hard to find a job,hw i wish sm co.wld juz offer me a job, so nt to loaf at wrk anymore....hahaha,so no more blogging n MSN-ing at wrk
After much brain-storming n careful thinking for a year, i have finally decide to transfer my BA to BA(Honours) which mean that i will torture myself for an extra year

Childhood Images

Childhood, childhood images, everything about children.....etc....This has been running constantly in my mind since Friday night. Hehee. That's because i have to finish my first TMA for my Childhood Development. So i been dreaming everything about childhood..It's a challenge to finish writing a 2000 words essay in just 1 weekend...:) but i did it in less than 2 days, lucky me...It's really exhausting doing last minute work, but no choice, i don't have that much time...anyway i have another 2000 words to submit in 2 weeks time, which was actually supposed to be due this Wed. Thank goodness, the school is 'kind' enuff....
Childhood is actually just a stage that everybody once went throught. In simple terms, it's just a time frame. Everyone would have some childhood memories. And it's different for everybody. In my opinion, childhood is very closely linked to parents since they are the closest kin, and without them, we wouldn't exist. Basically this 2 words keep appearing in my mind now and then: Nature vs Nurture....Do children have the innate ability to do things by themselves or do they need to be nurtured by the surrounding? I have been thinking about the answer to this qn......

Birdie-brains out there

It's not that im trying to be rude, but it just exasperate me so much when there so many ignoramus people out there. (This is in continuation to my previous entry: My Superstar-Kelvin Tan.) I dun need to elaborate that he is the first visually-impaired singer who was crowned the winner of the Superstar contest. But just because he is visually- impaired doesn't mean he must live a different life from normal beings like us.
Some members of the public has really many mis-conceptions of the blind. So i just want to take this chance to provide some information. (Especially to fellow bloggers, Im just concerned and wish to prevent whoever from making a laughing stock out of themselves)
Please don't think that the blind can't read or write. They uses the Braille system which is a system of raised dots on paper which form letters and words. They can feel it with their fingertips.
Please don't think that the blind can't use the computer to type or to surf the internet as there is a special software which is able to read out the words for them to hear.
Please don't think that the blind can't move around just because they can't see. They make use of the white cane to locate steps and curbs. They can even cross the road by listening to the sound of traffic.
Please don't think that the blind don't use money just becos they can't see. There are actually Braille dots on the notes. And be aware that they are actually of different sizes. $50 notes are bigger than $10 notes,$5 notes are bigger than $2, in case u all dun notice it. Coins are easy to identify with the sizes and edges.
Please don't think that the blind live in a world of their own because they can't tell the time. There are special watches for them where they can feel the hands and Braille dots at different hour points.
These are all very basic things that they can do. Some of the visually-impaired people has an exceptional keen sense of feel and hearing, and are even more alert than normal people like us. And some has exceptionally good memory. (Guess whom im talking about)
I hope this is useful to some people although most of you out there should have some basic common sense. There are really some humorous people who really make me laugh. Some says that the blind won't know what's happening on the news or the internet. Some says that image consultants are really silly to make Kelvin wear a watch when he can't even see. Oh My God, some people are really so 'humorous'...LOL

My Confessions

Not realising when did i start to step on the path to become a potential shopaholic, i guess it all began when i was studying in poly and earning my own pocket money by tutoring kids every single day that i can spare. I was actually saving money to buy a notebook, but eventually it ended all up on shoes, clothes, handphone and bills,etc...
It's only February of the new year and God knows how much money i have spent. I'm practically wearing new clothes everyday since the first day of Chinese New Year, till now in fact. And also new shoes, hehee...I think i bought 4 new pairs in the recent two months, oh no....Anyway, my current obsession is in my new blue Croc shoes. I just love the shape, the holes and the colour. :)
For the next 3 months, i promise myself not to buy any more clothes, shoes, earrings,etc....This would be my New Year Resolution for now.

After the Holidays

I guess i'm suffering from what i called : Post- Chinese New Year Blues. I was perfectly well, kicking away and stuffing myself away with food since Friday to Tuesday. But yet, when i woke up yesterday morning, telling myself: 'Wake up, Wake up...It's time to go back to work after a long 5 days break, there's no reason for me to complain', i just feel so sick. So ended up taking a day of MC...
Oops....I was really sick, NOT faking it ok...What could be the reason behind my sickness? It could have something to do with my phobia of 'Going Back to Work' or phobia of 'Going Back to Class' which coincidentally falls on the same day- 1 feb 06. Or I guess it could be due to the reason that i have been waking up after 12pm everyday since last Friday, so im not used to waking up at 7.30am anymore..:) Anyway im back to work today, and it seems to be the trend for everyone to be on MC after Chinese New Year.
